2nd/3rd Week of School....lots of stuff to show and share!

We had a very, very eventful last few weeks of school.  I have lots to share and show from our very bright and fun friends in Room 101.  Check out everything we've been working on lately!
After reading, Rainbow Fish, we talked about how each one of us is unique and special and then made our own Rainbow Fish to show how special we are.

Rainbow Fish (Meygan)

When learning math partners, we acted out our facts by pretending to be "lambs" and jumping over the fence to the other side to create the partners.

After acting our our number partners, we used our math materials to show the number partners on a math mat.

While working in our Reading Workshop this week, we talked about how Good Readers find a cozy spot to read.  Here are their favorite cozy spots....and if I may add some look VERY cozy. (Straton)

While working on math partners, we learned about stair steps and one more and one less. They enjoyed seeing the concept visually.

During the last day of the month (August) we had our July/August Birthday Celebration for our friends with birthdays in those months.  Happy Birthday to Jimena, Logan, & Jasmine :)

We had treats and juice and listened to some KidzBop...they really enjoyed it.

I enjoyed watching their dance moves, hehe.

Working on our word study word sort with the words with short a.

Today, we learned how to write in our journals (Day 1 of Writing Workshop).

Sara did a fantastic job.  Notice, the date, beginning sentences with a capital letter, ending with punctuation, finger spaces, nice picture.  Day 1 was pretty good :)

Word Study Word sorting short a words from our decodable readers.

All in all, we've done a lot of learning, been working on a lot of routines and I think it is paying off. I am seeing the smartest, sweetest, kids ever.  They are also doing really well with our New SOAR school wide behavior program.  We have the most tickets/crickets in the entire school. Ask your child how we earn our tickets and what they mean. :)

Grits for Grans 2012

What a fun day to share a morning breakfast of Cheese Grits with the ones you love.....Grandparents!  We kicked off Grandparents week with our annual "Grits for Grans."  I was in the cafeteria and happened to spot a few of our friends and their grandparents.  Some of you got away before I could snap a picture, but here are the ones I was able to find. :) Thank you so much for coming and sharing this day with our sweet sweet kids. :)
