Writing Workshop: Partner Sharing

This week in writing workshop, we learned to share our journal entries with a partner and tell something we enjoyed and discuss ideas for upcoming journal stories.  The children looked so cute sharing their journals with each other. Some were so interested in their partner's pictures or the way they used finger spaces, wrote neatly, used punctuation and capitalization, or the way their writing expressed the writing trait: voice. Today we also discussed nouns in our writing.  I noticed some friends finding all the nouns in their partner's writing.  We have so much fun each day in our class. Thank you for such sweet, bright children.  I love seeing their faces light up when they learn something new and get a chance to practice it.
Brendan & Elijah sitting "eye-to-eye and knee-to-knee"

Destiny & Kimberly discussing ideas for future stories.

Leah is the reader and Genavieve is the listener.

I love how Sophia is so focused on what Karlye is saying...she really has this "eye-to-eye" thing down.

Drake and Emma sharing their journals with each other.

Gabbi is reading her journal to Timothy.

This is so cute. Lee is really being a good listener as Kyle reads his story to Lee.  I love how Kyle is pointing as he reads. Great sharing!

Russell and Zachary are reading their journals to see which story they want to share with each other.

Landon is reading with enthusiasm as Ethan really takes on his listener role.

Joe and Hank are discussing future journal ideas as they look through their "idea notebook" located in the back of their journals.
