Fun Stuff to Share

I got a little carried away with not blogging lately.  I had so many pictures, yet I hadn't uploaded even one.  So here they are in no real order... a random assortment of "stuff" to share with you that is going on in our class! :) Enjoy :)
To practice our spelling words this week, the kids practiced "back writing" where they had a partner and wrote the spelling words (as they spelled it aloud) on their partner's back...the person in front wrote the word in the "air"....after they spelled a word, they would turn around and switch, taking turns... it was a fun way to practice spelling and I am sure it felt great too... :)

Brendan lost his tooth this week and got to take his tooth home in his own "tooth taxi." (Thanks Mrs. Leonardi for the cute "taxis".) I have now taken on a new role other than teacher...Call me Mrs. West, OTP (official tooth puller). Ha!

Here are a few of my star students from the past few weeks... Ethan :)

Joe :)

Sophia :)

As part of our math lesson each day, I have student "leaders" or "teachers" that help me teach the class. Today, Drake was our "leader."  He had to write one part of the number partners for the number 8, then he would call on someone to help him find the other partner that made the total of 8.

Great Job, Drake.  Sometimes, I am sure they get tired of Mrs. West always at the board....I have to share! :)

More Randomness!!! We made "glue ghost necklaces" for Halloween.  Thanks Mrs. Lewis for this great idea!  I traced a ghost pattern on a Styrofoam plate and then used a hot glue gun to trace my outline.  Then the kids got an "Elmer's Glue Bottle" and poured glue into the "ghost outline."  We let it dry for a day.  Afterwards, I peeled the ghosts out of the plate and punched a hole in the top and strung yarn through the hole.  The kids added faces and VOILA ....a glue ghost necklace.  Easy Peezy, lemon squeezy!

Here is the "hot glue gun" outline on the plate. I will have to take a picture of the finished product.  I can't believe I forgot... Coming soon!

To end a great week before Fall Break, my students worked with our class mom, Mrs. Sonen and created this CUTE picture for me with their "thumbprints" as the spiders.  The web was yarn and she added little legs and each student's name with each "spider."  So cute, so unexpected....I am sooo lucky! :) Thanks guys! I love y'all too!
