In order to relate our election unit in Social Studies to the real world, everyone made campaign posters to convince the other students in the class to vote for them. (this was our example of a representative democracy-the person they choose gets to represent our class and vote on something for the whole class) I took a picture of each child's poster. They said "Vote for _________" and then they told a reason why you should vote for them with a picture included. You can see which students worked really hard on their posters. After they created their posters, they presented them to the class to convince everyone they were the best candidate for the job. We had a class vote. It came to a 3 way tie between Genavieve, Zachary & Abigail. (One thing I noticed that each of these 3 candidates did when we had the final voting, is that none of them voted for them self...they each voted for each other--how sweet!) After the final vote....Abigail became our class representative. She voted for everyone to enjoy extra recess on Monday. Congratulations, You ALL did a great job with our "election" process. Remember our test is Friday. I hope everyone is studying for it. We are reviewing in class by playing Jeopardy on the Smart Board. :) Enjoy the pictures!!!!
